LoconetConfig provides the facility to configure LocoIO®, LocoServo® and LocoBooster® devices for use on model railroads controlled by Digitrax Loconet®. The LocoIO® was originally designed by John Jabour and has since been maintained and upgraded by Hans de Loof. Hans also designed the LocoServo® and LocoBooster® devices.

A list of supported devices and versions is available.

In addition, LocoIO® devices are available from Peter Giling under the MGV banner. Other Loconet® devices are also available from MGV.

Main

Toolbar
This contains a number of buttons providing basic program functions ...
Exit - Closes the program
Power - Turns track power on or off
Open - Opens a window with a list of saved board configurations
Save - Saves the currently-displayed configuration
Monitor - Displays LocoNet® packages on a real-time basis
Options - Allows options to be selected
Ports - Provides for selection of the requisite Port and Baud-Rate
Help - Opens the LoconetConfig® Help Page
About - Displays information about LoconetConfig®

Board Details
Address - This shows the currently-selected Board Address and Sub-Address, along with the Board Type and Version
Name - This allows a Name or Description to be associated with the specific address. It will be saved in the configuration file
Board Configuration - Clicking this button opens the Board Configuration window.
Read All - Initiates a read of the the board currently defined in the Address and Sub-Address fields
Write All - Initiates a write of the current configuration to all ports

Section Tabs
Primary Functions - this tab provides configuration functions for the basic capabilities of the LocoIO device.
Multi-Port - this tab provides configuration functionality for the Multi-Port capabaility of the LocoIO device.

List of Ports
This shows the current configuration function and address associated with each of the ports.
Clicking on any specific row causes the full configuration for that port to be displayed in the panel at the right, where it may be adjusted if required.

Port Detail
This shows the configuration for the currently-selected port. Note that the layout varies, depending on the type of function associated with the specific port.
The Usage field may be used to associate a description with the specific port. This will be saved in the configuration file and will be retrieved, along with the other port data when the file is re-opened.
Read Port - this allows the individual port to be read again to confirm it's setting.
Write Port - this writes the specific port configuration to be written to the port.
Test - this sends a test message to the specific port.

Manufacturer
This provides access to configuration functions for the products of various manufacturers. At this point, only LocoIO, LocoServo and LocoBooster boards are supported.


First-time Usage
Start LoconetConfig®
Enter a board Address and Sub-Address
Click the 'Read All' button - this will read the specified device and load the List of Ports with the current configuration
Click on any of the Ports in the list. The Port Configuration will be shown in Port Detail. Make any requisite changes and click 'Write Port'.
Optionally, enter a Name for the device, and Usage details for the Ports.
When finished, click the 'Save' button to save a configuration file for this device, which may be opened at any time in the future.
