On30
This is narrow-gauge model railroading in O-Scale (1/48) on HO-Gauge (16.5mm) track, providing a nominal representation of a 30" prototype track gauge.
Whilst a number of model railroaders have been working in On30 for some years, On30 has been made more popular, and more affordable, by the effort Bachmann have put into providing a range of good quality narrow-gauge locomotives and cars.
In recent years, an encouraging number of small businesses have sprung up, providing specialist kits and accessories to meet the demand of the ever-growing number of On30 enthusiasts. See the Motive Power and Rolling Stock links for examples from some of these suppliers.
My Interest in On30
This largely sprung from my existing interest in narrow-gauge modeling as exemplified by my HOn30 Bigg & Orsum Railroad. HOn30 utilises HO-Scale equipment on N-Gauge (9mm) track to represent 30" gauge full-size operations.
I take a particular delight in small 'odd-ball' locomotives and cars. Modeling these in HOn30 had become increasingly difficult, so I have shifted my railroading to On30 in order to satisfy this craving!
The Bigg and Orsum Railroad has now been demolished, so is no more! It provided a number of buildings and vehicles for my HO Tram micro-layout.
Please take a wander around these pages and feel free to email me your comments and suggestions.
