#9 - 'The Scorpion' (Mudbug Speeder)

The Mudbug, which started as a Boulder Valley Models kit, was fitted with an Egger-Bahn HOe 4-wheel mechanism and thus became an On18 lokey. On18 represents O-Scale on 18" track (9mm gauge).

Because the Egger-Bahn mechanism has the motor mounted vertically over one end of the frame, it was possible to utilise the empty front to build a token cab, along with a driver. This also enabled the doors to be modeled open to view the interior.

#11 - Porter 0-4-2 with Operating Gypsy Winch

Because I'm a bit 'gadget-happy' and, to prove that it could be done, the loco has been equipped with a flashing red rear light - probably quite non-prototypical. This is driven from a different decoder output than the standard reverse-light wire, this being done in order to produce the 'flash' effect. This output was then programmed to be triggered from the original reverse-direction function.

#12 - Waddlin' Goose

This little Track-Crew 'critter' is based on a kit by Boulder Valley Models and uses a Bachmann #16948 Track Ballast Vehicle mechanism as it's basis.

It has been equipped with a water-tank and diesel-powered pump, and carries hoses and reels so that it can function both as a water-delivery vehicle and as a fire appliance.

The head-lights operate, and tiny working tail-lights have been fitted in the rear of the frame. It also has a 'rotating' red light on the roof, switched from the DCC decoder. A speaker for the sound decoder is mounted below the diesel-engine/water-pump assembly. The decoder itself is mounted within the water-tank.
